While water service has been restored inside Irwin Army Community Hospital, the water is currently not potable. This advisory is in effect due to a boil water notice. Outpatient care and services remain available to all patients.

We are actively working to address this situation and will provide updates as soon as new information becomes available.

IACH Updates for June 14

By Jorge Gomez

IACH Updates:

  1. IACH and its outlying clinics will go on a weekend status Thursday, June 15, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., to support Victory Wellness activities; and Monday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday. Outpatient and ancillary services (pharmacy, radiology, lab) will close. The last pharmacy ticket serviced Thursday will be pulled at 12:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly. The Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery remain open.

  1. Outpatient behavioral health services for 1st ABCT, 2nd ABCT, or 1st STB are located at Custer Hill Health Clinic, 7672 Parker Rd, Fort Riley. Patients may receive an incorrect automated reminder call stating their appointment is at Farrelly Health Clinic. The reminder call system is currently undergoing technical difficulties.

  1. Victory Run ’23 -- Fort Riley's medical professionals joined in the celebration of the 1st Infantry Division's Victory Week 2023 with a time-honored Victory Run. Soldiers from Irwin Army Community Hospital, Soldier Recovery Unit, Dental Health Activity, and Veterinary Treatment Facility stood strong, ready and motivated along the most storied unit in the U.S. Army. Happy 106th birthday to The "Big Red One"! https://fb.watch/l9S4-p2tyi/

  1. The Gift – To be an NCO is a gift and responsibility. But it can take several years before an NCO understands the burden as a privileged influence. For the Year of the NCO, 1SG Czarina Deck looks back wishing she had appreciated the unparalleled experience of being a young sergeant and imparts what she has learned over the course of 15 Army years. https://youtu.be/j8fA1YD5fn8

  1. Is it Safe to Come Out? -- SPC Nathalie Myers grew up in a community that didn't welcome LGBTQ people. In high school, she thought she was the only gay student. Although her appearance drew suspicions, she kept her sexual orientation confidential for fear of being ostracized. It wasn't until Myers was 20 when she was in the Army that she finally came out. Being in the Army had given her the confidence she needed to be open and true to herself. https://youtu.be/16bWgjuWBnE

  1. Meditation with the Hands (Mindful Monday Episode 6) -- The act of opening and closing the hands can stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. Similar to progressive relaxation, we bring tension into the body by stretching the hands, then release the tension and allow the hands to rest in a closed position. This is another balancing principle. Sometimes when exploring opposite movements, we find a middle way that has more ease. https://fb.watch/l9RS1J9JjN/
