Industrial Hygiene

Industrial Hygiene focuses on prevention of workplace exposure related injury, sickness, impaired health and well-being, or discomfort among workers or the community. IH supports the Army through the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace. Industrial hygienists use environmental monitoring and analytical methods to detect the extent of worker exposure and employ engineering, work practice controls, and other methods to control potential health hazards. When working conditions or operations change, the supervisor should contact Industrial Hygiene, Department of Public Health at (785) 239-7323 for a workplace re-evaluation.
