Pre & Post Surgery Procedures
Medications to stop prior to surgery:
- Asprin
- Non-sterodial anti-inflamatory drugs (Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Naproxen, Celebrex, etc.)
- Coumadin/Synthetic Anti-platelet drugs
- Herbal supplements
- Prescription/OTC diet and weight loss agents
- No prescription medication should stop without consent of physician or anesthesiologist
Night before surgery:
- No food, gum or drink after midnight
- Only a sip of water with medications
- No tobacco products after midnight
Prior to surgery, you will be received here for:
- Obtaining laboratory specimens
- Electrocardiograms
- Anesthesia assessment
- Patient education
Following your surgery, you will go to the Post-Anesthesia Unit (PACU) for second stage recovery and discharge instructions.
