Targeted Care
Targeted Care is a specialized mental health program at Fort Riley that increases access to care, reduces wait times and increases readiness by matching the right resources to each Soldier’s needs. Currently, Soldiers seeking Behavioral Health care at Fort Riley are experiencing extended wait times prior to engagement with a behavioral health professional. Targeted care aims to shorten the time to 14 days or less from when a Soldier wants behavioral healthcare to when they are in front of a behavioral health professional.
Behavioral health conducts two iterations of targeted care per week. One at IACH and one at Custer Hill Health Clinic. This program coordinates with the appropriate mental health resources subsequent to evaluating each Soldier during a Targeted Care appointment.
Three Parts to a Targeted Care Appointment
A Targeted Care appointment comprises three main phases. Initially, the Soldier completes concise paperwork while gaining insights into available services and care levels. Subsequently, the Soldier
privately meets with a behavioral health tech and licensed independent provider, aiding the team in determining the optimal level of care. Lastly, the Soldier receives an appointment with an appropriate level of care at Fort Riley.
In the traditional care model, intake appointments usually span an hour and a half, gathering comprehensive background information before a treatment plan is put into effect. Targeted Care streamlines the intake process, ensuring tailored care in line with each Soldier's specific needs.
Eligibility for Targeted Care
Targeted Care is not intended for dependents, Soldiers requiring medication management, those connected with SUDCC (i.e., substance use concerns), or Soldiers dealing with acute issues related to safety (i.e., suicidality).
