Missing Hospital Calls?

By Jorge Gomez

Some smartphone spam filters may block incoming calls from the hospital. If you are expecting a call from our staff, consider temporarily adjusting your phone’s spam settings to help ensure the call reaches you.

Our team contacts patients for appointment reminders, lab results, and follow-up care. To protect your privacy, outbound calls may appear on your Caller ID as “Private” or “Restricted.” In some cases, phones or cellular carriers may automatically identify these calls as spam and prevent them from ringing through.

If you are anticipating a call, temporarily allowing calls from “Private” or “Unknown” numbers during that time may help ensure you receive important information related to your care. If a call is missed, please check your voicemail, as staff will leave a message when appropriate.

Troubleshooting for Patients
1. Check Apple IOS – Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers, ensure this is OFF.
2. Check Android – Open phone app, tap three dots for Settings, tap Caller ID & Spam, review blocked numbers.

Carrier-Specific Spam Filters
If the patient has saved our number but is still not receiving calls, their cellular carrier might be blocking "Private" or business calls at the network level. Ask them who their provider is and share the relevant fix below:

T-Mobile (Scam Shield)
Open the T-Mobile Scam Shield app to allow private calls or have them open their phone keypad and dial #632# to temporarily disable "Scam Block."

AT&T (ActiveArmor)
Open the AT&T ActiveArmor app and check the settings to ensure "Unknown Callers" are not set to automatically go to voicemail.

Verizon (Call Filter)
Open the Verizon Call Filter app and adjust the block list to allow calls with hidden or unknown Caller IDs.
