Ombudsman Program

The Ombudsman functions as a resource in support of Soldiers assigned to a Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) and their Family members, as well as non-SRU Soldiers and their Family members who need assistance with a medical-related issue. Ombudsmen are Department of the Army Civilians who have been selected for their experience, determination, and passion to help Soldiers. The Ombudsman is an independent, neutral and impartial mediator for Soldiers and their family members.

Typical issues include:

  • Difficulty with appointments
  • Problems with orders/assignments
  • Medical Evaluation Boards
  • Requests for second opinions
  • Housing
  • Transitioning to the VA
  • Other medical-related issues
