Being an NCO -- Yesterday & Today

Are you scared of NCOs? CSM George Foster Jr. was. When he became an NCO, he brought his legacy views of what it meant to be a noncommissioned officer. But then something happened. Few Kids Ask This

As he was getting ready to go back to Korea, CSM George Foster's kids expressed something that very few kids ever have to ask. 14 Ruck Stars

You can train for a 12-mile foot march but what if you stressed the body for three consecutive days and nights, slept for only two hours, and endured a 21-degree temperature before sunrise. Will your training have paid off? On Day 4 of the Best Leader Competition, 76 medical professionals braved 12 cold miles. The vast majority failed to complete it in three hours. 14 competitors were the exception. #whoisthebestleader #ArmyMedicine #MRCWest #BestLeader2023 #Readiness #USArmy #MRCWestBestLeader #whoisthebest #12miles #ruckmarch

'$200 That You Won't Make It'

Even knuckleheads have the potential to succeed. Never downplay a young man or woman's ambition to reach the highest levels of education or a profession. You could be speaking to a future chief executive officer or commander of a hospital. COL Anthony Gray, IACH commander, advises all educators to be mindful of their judgements of youth. #momc #militarychild Music by Scott Buckley (@ScottBuckley) – released under CC-BY 4.0.

Eat Well. Perform Well.

If you're a nutrition or fitness-conscious person who considers Army dining facilities not for you, think again. The Go for Green®-Army program uses a labeling system to provide you with a quick assessment of the nutritional value of menu offerings and food products in the dining facility. The system was developed to establish feeding (“fueling”) standards for Army DFACs by improving health, fitness, readiness and increase a Soldier’s performance through nutrition awareness. Who Needs a Dietitian?

Reasons to see a registered dietitian are too numerous to list but the following should give you a fair idea: weight loss or weight gain, chronic disease, allergies and food sensitivities, athletic performance, vegetarians and vegans, and healthy overall eating. If you aren't sure whether a dietitian can help you, call the IACH Nutrition Care Division to discuss your health goals. Creative commons music by Scott Buckley.

Small is Better

For some nurses it's more enjoyable to work in a smaller facility where they can give one-on-one care. Denise Devonshire has nursed at large medical centers with high volumes of moms giving birth. As a nurse who prefers enabling moms on a personal level, Irwin Army Community Hospital has become her ideal work place. Creative Commons music by Scott Buckley.
