TRICARE Outage Impact to Pharmacies

A reported cyberattack on the nation’s largest commercial prescription processor, Change Healthcare, has affected military clinics and hospitals worldwide. On Feb. 21, Change Healthcare disconnected their systems to protect patient information. This is impacting all military pharmacies worldwide and some retail pharmacies nationally.
Fort Riley pharmacies are currently filling outpatient prescriptions manually until this issue is resolved. Pharmacy will give priority to urgent prescriptions followed by routine prescriptions. Please be patient as it will take longer than usual to safely fill prescriptions. Active Duty Service Members are encouraged to go to Farrelly Health Clinic pharmacy for urgent prescription needs. For more information, visit the TRICARE Patient Portal Outages page..

By Jorge Gomez

  1. The IACH Contraceptive Care walk-in clinic will close Thursday Jan. 12 and open Friday Jan. 13, 8 a.m. – noon and 1 – 4 p.m. The walk-in clinic, located in the Women’s Health Clinic, provides contraceptive counseling, birth control pills, patches, rings, implants and intrauterine devices, emergency contraception, and removals or replacements.

  1. Irwin Army Community Hospital, including outlying clinics, will close Jan. 19, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., to support Victory Wellness activities for hospital staff. Please plan accordingly.

  1. The next Patient & Family Advisory Council is scheduled for Jan. 31, 10:30 a.m., at the Irwin Army Community Hospital’s EPD Bay on the 3rd floor. This event will focus exclusively on behavioral health access. If you’d like to participate in a discussion with leadership in regards to the availability of care or other challenges affecting behavioral health, reach out to Jorge Gomez, IACH Public Affairs Officer, to indicate your interest.

  1. The IACH dining facility currently has limited selections due to equipment issues until further notice. Please consider alternate dining options.

  1. It’s Worth the Cold. As a former service member, Lori Jordan knows what it's like to be away from home, away from family and friends who can be there for you during hard times. That's why she cannot imagine caring for anyone other than military families. Facebook: https://fb.watch/hYh6aIB3Hw/ or YouTube https://youtu.be/pCbjGoYOaEM

  1. Kansas City Too Big to Nurse. Kansas City was too impersonal for Brenda Waggoner so she moved to the Little Apple (i.e. Manhattan, Kansas) where she could practice nursing in a warmer community and give back to the men and women who wear the nation’s uniform. Brenda shares what makes working at Irwin Army Community Hospital different from other places and what her goal is each day that she nurses the Fort Riley community.
